Scala Vinoteca in Kolonaki

A modern wine bar with a metropolitan sophistication designed by two of Greece’s best modern architects. With a huge selection of wines ranging up to 80 and a primarily Mediterranean menu, Scala has hit this up-market side of town with an original space adding a modern urban feel. Situated in the middle of a flight of stairs, (scala meaning stairs in Greek), it is hidden away from the usual Athenian traffic although you are no more than a stone throw away from the extremely busy Skoufa street for a drink later on.

The menu is comprised mainly of "sharing platters" ranging from 7-17 euro’s per plate. A small terrace is perfect in the warm summer evenings while in the inside area diners can feast their eyes on the beautiful wine wall and the minimalist rustic decoration.

A small bar inside also serves wine to the wine aficionados who are there just to enjoy the wine list or are looking for an alternative to the hundreds of typical bars around the kolonaki area.

On the busy and picturesque Adrianou Street right in the historical center of Athens, you'll find Kuzina – one of the most charming restaurants in town! Aris Tsanaklidis, one of the most creative chefs in Greece, leads the kitchen that since 2006, has produced several signature dishes, inspired by local ingredients and traditional Greek food.

Kuzina is housed in a beautiful mansion on one of Athens' most scenic pedestrian streets. However, it's on the top floor that you'll find a real surprise; Kuzina's famous rooftop terrace or 'tarazza' is open from April to October and invites guests to savor a unique culinary under Athens' moonlit sky while enjoying exceptional views of the Acropolis and the Temple of Hephaestus.

The dumplings with feta cheese mousse, the slow roasted lamb shank, and the Armenoville ice cream are just a few of our favorite signature dishes, but keep in mind that the menu changes twice a year and is always based on seasonal ingredients.

Apart from the awe-inspiring rooftop terrace, Kuzina's interior space is beautifully decorated in an all-white theme with rustic elements, an impressive bar, and open kitchen. During the summer you can take a seat outside and enjoy your delicious meal while engaging in Athenian people watching.

Placing a reservation in advance is highly recommended as Kuzina tends to get extremely busy, especially during the summer months.

Mariano Mezes Restaurant In Chalandri

At Mariano, “tsipouro time” is taken very seriously and veterans will deeply appreciate the 12 fine-tasting spirits that perfectly accompany the wide range of mezedes. Mezedes from the land and sea, handmade and hand-picked, as well as juicy burgers with sautéed vegetables or seasonal vegetables, boneless pork chops and excellent sausage plus 2 fresh salads.

And great prices - less than € 20 per person. Apart from the wide selection of tsipouro and similar tastes, the 20 wine labels and ‘homemade’ Moschofilero and Aghiorghitiko from Corinth offered in a glass make those who love experimenting, as well as the Greek meze culture, feel at home.

GiGi Burger

Located in the northern suburb Drosia, GiGi Meat Lab has been a local favorite since 2012. It is where you come to laugh, relax, see friends and most of all eat great food! Everything from the music and cocktails to the interior decor and warm hospitality welcomes you at any time of the day.

During the summer GiGi offers its lovely outdoor patio for a daytime coffee, lunch or an unforgettable evening under the star-filled sky, while in the winter the welcoming indoor space is ideal for after dinner drinks and socializing with friends.

Even though GiGi Meat Lab started out as a neighborhood hang-out, its great food and friendly atmosphere made it a favorite spot among Athenians from all around the city.

Gigi Meat Lab is one of the most versatile eateries in Athens, it is an excellent choice for the younger crowds and couples as well as for families with young kids. In fact, it is popular among families, for Sunday lunches because of its child-friendly atmosphere, great location, and great food.

Some of our favorite dishes are the mama style fried meatballs with spearmint, the alternative beef carpaccio with gorgonzola, harissa, and almonds, and the decadent gigiplex– a signature dish with fresh cut french fries, ground beef, cheese, and egg.

Obviously, you shouldn't leave without tasting one of Gigi's succulent burgers; there are a few options to choose from, and they all taste delicious. Our personal favorites are the bacon mushroom melt and the classic hamburger with its juicy patty, crunchy pickles, and yummy mayonnaise dressing.

Gigi Meat Lab tends to get very busy during the weekends, so we strongly suggest you make a reservation beforehand!

Piperia Seafood Restaurant in Neo Psychico

Piperia. A word that leads your mind to something spicy and fresh, something hot, perhaps oriental in origin. On March 15, 2001, Mr John Galaktopoulos, the owner, inaugurated a classic restaurant in the beautiful area of Neo Psychiko. However, following the silent, but clear, guidance issuing from his customers' preferences, he soon turned it into a post-modern seafood tavern. The odd term "post-modern" is obvious both in the aesthetics of the interior, which is more than simply imaginative, possibly futuristic, and in the choices of the kitchen in the final form it has taken. Both the decor, as well as a large part of the menu, changes quite often, and this adds a refreshing note to the whole and is an unfailing weapon against standardization and habit, which have easily lead similar establishments to decay. A great deal of care has been given to the selection of the people who make up the personnel of the tavern. Fresh and young persons are ready to be of effective service to the customers-some of whom have become regulars, even fanatics-who come mainly, but not only, from nearby areas and are fans of the style created by "Piperia", the tavern that tends to be a major landmark in the gourmet map of Athens.

The kitchen is dominated by seafood tastes and is basically Greek, having a somewhat varied character, however, as we are going to see.

There are four appetizer proposals, and a wine selection of 30 excellent Greek choices including mainly white wines, which fit in the character of the kitchen, a good variety of beers and, of course, ouzo, which cannot be missing from a place like that.

The unbottled wine we serve (Muscat from Limnos and Agiorgitiko) is carefully chosen, and there is also unbottled tsipouro.

Kozi's Meet 'n Eat

Kozi was born and raised in the beautiful country of South Africa. When his parents, who are from the island of Imvros, decided to return to Greece, Kozi made a promise that he would never forget the delicious braai's that he so often enjoyed in South Africa. He decided to continue this tradition and share it with all his family & friends in Athens.

Today Kozi invites everyone interested in eating good, clean & fresh meat to his still small but comfy space in Melissia.

Having recently been there ourselves, we definitely recommend the burger and the rib-eye. Beware - this restaurant doesn't take reservations - you must get there early!

Abovo Restaurant in Kefalari
