
Foreign Minister Ms. Dora Bakoyannis will be carrying out a working visit to the UK and Germany from 5 to 7 November. In London, the Foreign Minister will meet with her UK counterpart, Mr. David Miliband, to discuss bilateral political and economic relations, developments in the EU, the Cyprus issue, Turkey’s European course, developments on the Kosovo issue, the FYROM name issue, as well as other issues of international and regional interest. In Berlin, Ms. Bakoyannis will have talks with her German counterpart, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on bilateral relations and developments in the EU, the Balkans and the wider region of the Southeastern Mediterranean.
In the UK, Ms. Bakoyannis will deliver two lectures, the first, entitled “Greece and Europe”, at the London School of Economics, and the second, entitled “Does Europe have a message for the world?”, at Oxford University’s St Antony’s College.
At the London School of Economics, Ms. Bakoyannis was the guest of the Hellenic Observatory and Professor Kevin Featherstone, holder of the Eleftherios Venizelos Chair of Contemporary Greek Studies.
The Foreign Minister will speak at Oxford at the invitation of professor Othon Anastasakis, director of South East European Studies at Oxford (SEESOX). In London, Ms. Bakoyannis will also have the opportunity to meet with the British committee for the restitution of the Parthenon marbles.
