Effective Goal Setting: Are You Doing It Right?
How do I set a new goal?
Of course, you’ve heard that it is necessary to have goals. The goal is a buzzword, practically what drives us to go further. It can be small and immediate or grandiose and long-term. It can be magical and fulfill your deepest dreams, it can also be something simpler and possible. In any case, it is useful and if we set it correctly, it drives us, creates a way forward, and fuels our dreams. A goal is a vision for the future that we desire.
Of course, you will have set goals in the past, but there is a high chance that you did not achieve them. What do we do wrong and most importantly, how can we correct it?
Here are some ways to get it right, using all the functions of the brain, conscious and unconscious, to achieve what you want from now on.
For maximum achievability, your goal must be:
Last but not least, your goal that is specific, that is well-formed, that meets all the specifications, should be installed in your subconscious brain. There are two brains, the conscious brain works intelligently, logically, and linearly and gives us commands. We use this brain in deciding what goal to set (goal-setter). There is also the unconscious or subconscious brain, which has stored all the knowledge, all the tools, and all our psyche and is constantly at work. So, we install the goal in the subconscious mind to collect the data that are suitable for this purpose, that help us to go in the correct direction. The subconscious brain is the one that manages to achieve the goal (goal-getter). There are various ways and techniques to install the target in the subconscious brain and activate it to achieve our goal much more easily and directly.
Finally, on the way to achieving the goal, we need to calmly and realistically change course if necessary. We take in all the information, asses it, and if necessary, adjust accordingly.
The help of an expert can help in this process at all stages, from concretization to targeting, overcoming obstacles and limiting beliefs/behaviors, and of course implementation.
Do not forget, we are talking about your life. Insert passion, and imagination and kick-start your dreams!

Here are some ways to get it right, using all the functions of the brain, conscious and unconscious, to achieve what you want from now on.
For maximum achievability, your goal must be:
- Well-formed. Proper goal setting achieves the upgrade of our quality of life to multiple levels. A not-so-successful goal slows us down, reduces our self-confidence, disorients us, and at worst fills us with doubts and procrastination.
- Inspirational and alluring, and motivational to you. How do you imagine your life a month, a semester, or a year from now? If you had all the tools and power, what would you want to achieve?
- Challenging, stretching us a little. Our brain wants the challenge, we need to get out of our comfort zone, dare new things, and see what we can achieve. If the goal is very easy, the subconscious mind achieves it immediately and then does not deal with it anymore. If a goal is not realistic, there is no hope, but if it’s not challenging, there is no motivation.
- Toward a positive direction. If you are thinking: “I want to leave this job”, then all your attention is where you want to leave from. But if your goal is stated positively: “I have a job I’m in the flow, I feel passionate about, a job that motivates me”, your brain looks at your goal.
- SMART – including various “technical characteristics to succeed”.
- Starting from and ending with you. If you are responsible for the success of the goal and only you (e.g. to run in the next marathon), then you have a much better chance of achieving it. If your goal depends on others (e.g. World Peace), then you are more likely to not be able to control the outcome. This does not mean that you will not do your best to achieve all the goals, just don’t be disappointed if you do not achieve what you want immediately.
- Ecological. To help/promote our “ecology”: our family, our work, our environment, and society in general. A goal that works in line with the needs and wants of others is much more readily achievable.
- Certifiable. How will you know that you succeeded? What will you see, feel, hear, and say to yourself when you achieve it? What is your own evidence procedure? The subconscious brain moves on until it receives this confirmation, and when it receives it, it moves on to the next goal you set for it.

angela liarikos architecture + design
Angela Liarikos was born in Thompson, Canada and grew up in Montreal. She received her Bachelor of Architecture at McGill University in 1991.
Upon completing her studies, she decided to follow her heart to Berlin. Here she acquired most of her professional experience working in architectural offices and collaborating on freelance projects with various partners. As Berlin was booming during the early nineties with ground-up construction, Angela was discovering her passion for interior design.
From 2000 to 2013, she was employed at the architectural firm SMAP in Berlin, whose main focus was hospitality projects. It was here that she acquired valuable, professional knowledge working on complex, hotel projects with often, restrictive budgets.
In between this period, she moved to New York in 2007 for a change of scenery. After a brief stint at architectural firms such as Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) and David Howell Design (DHD), she returned to Berlin in late 2008. She resumed her position as project architect at SMAP.
In 2013 she spent a summer on the island of Amorgos. Here, she discovered her interest for Greek, vernacular architecture and the love of a culture she carries in her ancestral roots. Café Charmolypi was not only one of the projects she designed, but also managed and ran, engaging with tourists from near and far.
Angela speaks English, Greek, German and French and is based in Athens and in Berlin.

2 Greek Destinations Among Europe's Most Underrated
Europe is so much more than an espresso in a Parisian cafe or tapas in a trendy restaurant in the center of Barcelona.
Europe is home to many wonderful places, some of which are seriously underrated. CNN has rounded up 21 destinations that many tourists ignore. Among them are two magical Greek destinations: Zagori and Patmos.
Zagori
Its name literally means "the place behind the mountains." According to CNN, Zagori is one of the few Greek areas that managed to maintain their independence during the Turkish occupation. Walking along the scenic paths and going down the 900-meter-deep Vikos Gorge provide the answer to why.
A wild, untouched place where high cliffs meet lush forests. It’s not just the wilderness, though. The villages of Zagori look like they are straight out of a postcard, teeming with old-world charm and untamed beauty.

Patmos
Located at the northernmost point of the Dodecanese archipelago, Patmos is known all around the world as the island where St. John wrote the Apocalypse.
Most tourists are on their way back as soon as they explore the renowned Cave of the Apocalypse. But, those who can appreciate Patmos’ unique beauty will stay much longer. Lovely beaches, seaside tavernas serving fresh fish and ice-cold beer, and, of course, the Byzantine mysticism and Italian finesse of the main town are only a few of the reasons that make a trip to Patmos worth the effort.

New Building Remains In Western Peloponnese Point To Poseidon’s Temple
Archaeologists in Greece discovered in western Peloponnese the remains of a temple-shaped building that could be a lost sanctuary of the ancient god Poseidon, the Culture Ministry said.
The excavations completed at the end of September revealed part of the foundation of a large building, 9.40 meters wide, the walls of which are 0.80 meters wide. A dense layer of tiles was found inside. Based on the indications of the geophysical survey and the excavation data, the building was at least 28 meters in length, it had two inner rooms, as well as a “pronaos” and a back building or inner sanctum.
Archaeologists believe the elongated temple-shaped building probably belonged to the sanctuary of Poseidon and may even be the temple itself.
The site of Kleidi, where the ancient building was found, had been suggested by earlier researchers as a possible location of the famous ancient sanctuary, as it is situated in the foothills of the ancient acropolis of Samiko, with a command of the area north of the Lake Kaiafa, on the west coast of the Peloponnese.
According to information provided by Greek geographer, philosopher, and historian Strabo in his Geography, Book 8, the sanctuary of Poseidon was an important cult center of the Amphictyonic league (an association of neighboring city-states in ancient Greece to defend a common religious center) of the cities of Triphylia and was situated near the sea, under the acropolis of Samiko.
Combined with the Laconian style of tiling, the discovery of part of the marble water basin (perrirhanterion) leads archaeologists to tentatively date the building to the Archaic period.
The discovery, which is the result of this year’s first excavation season of the five-year research program (2022-2026), is aiming to investigate the topography of the area and identify the sanctuary of Poseidon and the port of Samiko. It is a collaboration between the Ephorate of Antiquities of Ilia headed by Dr. Erofili Kollia and the Austrian Archaeological Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, headed by Dr. Birgitta Eder.

Ai Stratis To Become The First Completely Green Island In Greece
The creation of the first completely 'green' Greek island has entered the final stretch. The small island of Ai Stratis, with just over 200 inhabitants, is expected to become the first island in Greece to be powered exclusively by electric and thermal energy from renewables, ANA reports.
The small hybrid project in progress on Ai Stratis, a remote Greek island of the northern Aegean, will act as a guide for larger projects.
The plan calls for the small Public Power Corporation (PPC) power plant on the island, which runs on expensive diesel, to fully shut down its operation and for the island to make a transition to full energy autonomy.
The Environment and Energy Ministry granted a unified license to the municipality of Ai Stratis to install a hybrid power plant for the production of electricity using wind and solar and for the storage of electricity with the use of accumulators.
