MURDER SONGS By The Musical Duo Witchberries

Α Scandalous music performance of Infamous Murders Turned to Songs

Theatre of the No, Αthens first English speaking theater, proudly presents "MURDER SONGS", an extraordinary musical performance by the Witchberries, a groundbreaking musical duo known for their dark and mischievous character. They perform original compositions, put poetry to music, arrange world melodies and engage with multi-cultural polyphony. Their music blends elements of neo-ethnic, cabaret, jazz, rock, and classical genres. For one night only, on Saturday, December 7th, at 20.00.

3

In this music project, the Witchberries dig up the skeletons hidden in the depths of music folklore. Murder on land and sea, from the one side of the world to the other. Murder by biblical characters or mortals, committed of wrath or negligence, cruelty or indifference. Murder which sneaked its way into lyrics and tricked people into humming them absent-mindedly.

4

The Witchberries go up and down the octaves, drumming and strumming, and all but wonder: Is it fate or is it chance, which of the two inside of us will awake: The murdered or the murderer?

THEATRE OF THE NO, Athens' first English speaking  theatre, welcomes guitarist Panos Iliou for a special project that tells the story of Blues and its evolution.

On Friday, December 20th at 22:30, the performance will take us on a journey through the early forms of country blues and early blues, which remain the foundation and source of inspiration for countless musicians around the world.

From Dockery Farms, the birthplace of this musical legacy, Panos Iliou will guide us through a musical journey along the paths of Delta Blues, Piedmont Blues, Bentonia Blues, and Hill Country Blues, exploring the regions that shaped the authentic sound of the blues.

His music is not limited to the Mississippi Delta. The journey continues through Texas Blues, the East Coast, Memphis, and reaches Chicago, where modern "electric" blues was born.
